Combined Federal/State Filing Program
The Combined Federal/State Filing Program (CF/SF) is an alternative method to submit information returns 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, 1099-B, 1099-C, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-K, 1099-R, and 1099-S to state revenue departments. The IRS acts as a forwarding agent only. It is the issuer’s responsibility to contact the appropriate state(s) for further information. In most cases the CF/SF program may not completely meet the requirements of the state. Please verify the requirements directly with the Department of Revenue for the state(s) in question.
NOTE: Participation does not mean that the state may not still require you to file the forms with their agency. Many states require forms that report state withholding to be filed direct to the state.
Direct-to-State Filing Supported States
Our Direct-to-State filing process allows customers to file their 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, 1099-K, 1099-R and W-2 forms directly to individual states. The following states are only supported by Direct to State filings on our platform for the forms indicated, regardless if the state participates in the CF/SF program. If you do not check the file direct to state box on the form template, your forms WILL NOT be filed to the state.

*We do not file forms via the CF/SF program when we offer direct to the state filing. Michigan is an exception. The 1099-MISC is eligible to be filed with Michigan via the CF/SF program.
Direct-to-State Pricing Info
We submit form types 1099-B, 1099-C, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-K, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-R, and 1099-S to the IRS' Combined Federal/State Filing Program, which makes the form data available to the states that participate in the program. Even though the state participates in the CF/SF program, the state may still require certain forms to be filed directly to the state.
We file directly to several states and we are adding more states each year. Here’s how it works: We offer this service as an add-on charge of $1.00 per form, per state. Example: if you file a form that has 3 states populated, your Direct-to-State add-on charge for that form is $3.00.
City and Local Filing
We do not e-file or mail city, local or school district copies for you. Please verify any additional filing requirements with those agencies directly. Please verify any additional filing requirements with those agencies directly.
Not all states participate in the CF/SF program, including states with no wage reporting requirement such as Nevada, Florida, Washington and Wyoming. Some states that participate in the CF/SF still require forms to be sent directly to the state. If you have questions regarding state filings, we suggest that you contact the state agency for clarification. Click here for a list of state contacts.
Direct-to-State Corrections
We do not support corrections for state data, only Federal corrections.
Direct-to-State Reconciliation Forms
Reconciliation forms are not available on our site.
Some states require reconciliation or other additional forms to be filed at the time of the wage or information return upload. Some states that participate in the CF/SF still require forms to be sent directly to the state. To remain in compliance with your state's regulations, those types of forms need to be filed separately. Please verify any additional filing requirements with those agencies directly.
